CHALLENGE

After completing a full-year coaching assignment with a COO at a major fintech firm — she approached us at our celebratory dinner to develop a program for her leadership team.

Her team was comprised of established and up-and-coming managers who have to significantly sharpen their leadership skills to take the company to new heights (and other new markets).

ACTION

Modern work rarely happens in isolation. More than ever, workplace silos are being torn down and more visible processes have emerged in their place. Departments are working together to create truly cohesive, integrated teams, aligned by shared business goals.

To facilitate this strategy, we designed a custom, cross-functional learning retreat to bring the teams together to develop solutions and not focus on problems. We met with senior leadership to present our roadmap and build consensus, and get them to champion the effort with their teams. This is critical in any endeavor — any cracks in leadership enthusiasm will doom any offsite workshop.

We started by presenting the individual results of our proprietary leadership assessment allowing each participant to see where their strengths and areas of improvement lie. We also incorporated many proven techniques — focusing on each team discussing and uncovering their roadblocks and developing solutions that they are empowered to execute. We then presented the four building blocks of leadership — motivation, communication, education, and delegation — all culminating in action steps to deliver after the workshop.

RESULT

We take pride in taking stock of each participant’s feedback — we received great reviews from all attendees. In addition, the COO used the term “knocked her socks off” — it exceeded her expectations in all areas. Each manager departed with a powerful set of tools and techniques to help them better lead their teams.
